Value-Based Payment (VBP): OHA and Bailit Health Overview of Hospital Global Budgets for Rural Hospitals

Background: The Value-Based Payment (VBP) Compact is jointly sponsored by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Oregon Health Leadership Council (OHLC). As part of this work, OHA has engaged Bailit Health to present information about hospital global budgets and solicit hospital leader feedback on the feasibility of developing a hospital VBP model in Oregon.

Meeting topic: Learn from Bailit Health and the Pennsylvania Rural Health Model about hospital VBP models with a focus on global budgets in rural hospital settings; provide initial feedback to Bailit Health regarding feasibility and any preferred model(s); and prepare to participate in future discussions on this topic (see “What’s next” below).

Intended for: Rural hospital CEOs, CFOs, and other interested leaders

What’s next: This session will be followed by a similar education session designed for leaders in larger health systems, and then a discussion session for all education session participants, facilitated by Bailit Health, to explore the feasibility of developing a hospital VBP model in Oregon. Watch for additional details about those events. Based on your input through these sessions, Bailit Health will develop a feasibility assessment and provide it to OHA and the hospital association.
